Some days the sketchbook isn’t for “good” art—it’s for breathing. Here’s my small ritual for starting, even when I feel stuck.

The colors I reach for when I miss home

There’s a shade of warm brown that reminds me of old roads after rain. This is a tiny story about nostalgia, palettes, and comfort.

When I’m missing home, I don’t try to paint the whole memory. I just lay down a few familiar colors—tea-brown, turmeric-yellow, and that soft, dusty green from the window outside. Somehow, the palette does the talking before the painting even begins.

Mine is just a corner: a small surface, one lamp with warm light, a jar of pens, and a cloth that makes it feel “mine.” When everything has a home, my mind settles too. It becomes easier to sit down, open a page, and make something gentle—without waiting for perfect conditions.
